Our newest kindergarten:
Kidsfirst East Rolleston

Opening its doors in 2023, Kidsfirst East Rolleston already had a rich heritage, and brought the wairua of many whānau and friends with it, when it relocated from the foothills of Franz Josef, to its new home on the Canterbury Plains.

Originally constructed as Kidsfirst’s Glacier Country kindergarten, the building has been repurposed as a fantastic new kindy serving the East Rolleston district.

A new kindergarten for a new community…

Kindergartens have become central to new communities, often where young families are making their home. They act as a hub, not just for the tamariki, but for their parents, caregivers, and whānau who get to know each other and establish links with the local community.

Nau mai, haere mai, tauti mai.

Open 8:30 to 2:30 Monday to Friday, including term breaks, the kindergarten offers 20 hours free, even for 2 year olds. Fully qualified, registered teachers, small class sizes and a big backyard makes this a very special place for busy preschoolers.

As part of Kidsfirst’s network of around 70 kindergartens across Canterbury, the West Coast and Central Otago, this is the local, 100% Kiwi owned and operated kindy. Best of all, because Kidsfirst Kindergartens is not-for-profit, tamariki always come first.

Our qualified kaiako/teachers work hard to help tamariki view themselves as confident and capable learners, with beautiful spaces, natural resources and experiences that spark a love of learning. Tamariki are given lots of time and space to make choices in their day and to play, explore and make sense of the world in their own way.

We learn through play, inquiry, and challenges – and we have lots of fun!
